Body for Life Challenge #1
June 13, 2008
I’m super excited to be doing BFL and even more excited to have D doing it with me. We both really needed to get motivated and get active again and I truly believe that BFL will help us achieve our goals.
Stepping on the scale at Costco last week was our “wake up call”- Derek could hardly believe that he weighed in at 194 lbs and I have not weighed 115 lbs since my last pregnancy (over 4 years ago). It’s time for the two of us to focus on ourselves for a bit and make our health a priority!
My progress:
I am very proud of the fact that I was able to complete 100% of my workouts. I did them and it felt good! My eating however needs a lot more attention and I plan to focus more on my diet next week instead of just the workouts. Eating for me is the most challenging at work- the girls at work like to eat and it has been hard for me to keep to the program when I am in the office. I realize however, that things will need to change and I will need to stick to the diet if I’m going to see any results.
I have read BFL champions and will be rereading it again over the weekend in order to help me map out the rest of the 11 weeks.
I will be documenting my progress with weekly photos and measurements but I will try not step on to a scale again until the end of the challenge. From this day forward, I will be completing a daily synopsis of my Body For Life journey.

Derek and I had a great workout today. I definitely felt the heat on and it was nice to be able to have him there as motivation. I’m truly married to the most wonderful man in the world!
I was not able to eat my 6 mini meals today. This is something that I know I need to work on. I did drink a myoplex shake however and will reread the BFL Champions book tonight before going to bed (so that I can get some ideas about meal and supplement timing).
I’m going to take my week one progress photos in the morning. Tomorrow is Father’s Day and we’re going fishing so I’ll have to wake up super early to take the photos before we head out. Since my “before” pictures were taken while I was wearing my workout clothes, I will (from now on) take the rest of my photos in my bikini. I realize that this is how I will truly be able to gage just how much of a difference my body will be going through over the next couple of weeks.
I feel stronger already. This is good. Tomorrow is another day and I’m definitely up for the challenge!

Its midweek already and today is my legs workout. I did some cardio yesterday but wasn’t very successful in my eating. It is hard for me to eat when I’m supposed to- especially at work. I will need to get better at this (for sure).
I plan on working out when I get home from work and will have leftovers for dinner- a brown rice shrimp stir fry- sounds like a pretty good meal.
I also have to take my shorts picture for the mini challenge at Tracker. That should be fun and I cannot wait to see the results.
Derek is doing fabulous and I admire his dedication and determination. My hubby and I are already seeing changes in our moods since starting the challenge and I cannot wait to see how wonderful we’ll both feel by the time the next 12 weeks are up!

Man alive- it’s been a hard week for me and BFL. I had to go off- island for a business class and wasn’t able to eat as often as I needed to. I also didn’t get enough exercise like I should have. I’m paying the price today and will make it my mission to make up as much as I can to save this week. My dad is taking the laptop to Vegas so I won’t be able to journal as much as I want to (well, I’ll just have to save this on my flash drive).

Well, my dad didn’t end up taking my laptop at all, so I’ll be able to continue my journal as expected. I worked legs last night and felt really, really good. I do believe that I need to go up in some weights however for my legs- they have always been my stronger body part and the easiest for me to tone. I did a little ab work as well but not as much as I would like. My abs are definitely the weakest part of my body and the one that needs the most attention.
I was surprised to see that my weight has gone down a bit despite my eating mishaps during the week. I really thought that my Maui trip was going to put me back up there in the scale, but it didn’t! I’m down to 110.6 which is FANTASTIC! I’ve taken my week three photos already (a day early, I know but I doubt it’ll make a difference) and my measurements as well. I’m pretty happy with my progress thus far.
We’ll be starting P90x on Monday. Its going to be our week 4 of the challenge and Derek has seen awesome results thus far. For him, its time to take it to the next level- and I’m more than happy to go along for the ride. I need to go to my brother’s house to pick up the videos from him but once we get them, we’re going to sit down and write up our weekly goals. I’m ready for this!!!
