Happy Birthday Baby!

July 29th, 2008

So D’s birthday was on Sunday and we had a weekend celebration for it.  We went out to dinner on Saturday to have dinner with Pops and on Sunday we went out to breakfast.  I even baked a cake in the shape of a golf bag for D….was a little more labor intensive than I thought it would be but we had a lot of fun making it (the kids and I).

It was a mellow weekend all in all and I hope that D enjoyed his special day.  He finally got his iphone in on Saturday so his present was here just in time!

I took a lot of pictures at both dinner and breakfast, but the one I love the most sums up all the love we have for D.  Here it is:

What a weekend!

July 21st, 2008

Not a lot done this past weekend- mostly because I had to work.  Blech.  I tried to workout on Saturday but ended up feeling so yucky that I decided to take the day off.  That made me grumpy- very grumpy (just ask T).

Week in Review

The kids finished their 2nd week of golf and summer fun this week.  That means that they’ll be home all week with T next week.  Only one more week before school starts.  Thank goodness.  James will have a hiatus from school during the week the big kids go back to school- but that should be a piece of cake since my schedule will be a little more flexible.

Also during the week, I was able to send out SIL’s birthday present and registered for school too.  Next week is shaping up to be pretty uneventful, but over the weekend we’ll be celebrating D’s 41st birthday.  I can’t wait to make him his cake.

Here is a pic of the keikis waiting for Kess at the golf course yesterday.  Kess shot a 106- his best yet at Wailua.

BFL update

July 12th, 2008

July 12, 2008

I’ve been finding it hard to stay focused.  There is so much going on at work that I have had a difficult time getting my workouts in and giving my 100% to every exercise.

I can’t wait to take my measurements tomorrow though- I think I see a difference in my body and I hope to confirm it with pictures and the measuring tape (notice how I didn’t write about the scale- I loathe the scale).

End of week 4- start of week 5!

July 6th, 2008

The last two days have been pretty rough for me.  I have a hard time physically during the first two days of  my cycle.  My periods are normally very heavy and I cramp a lot.  I’m tired, run down and usually very moody.  I had a hard time focusing on my workouts and decided to take the last two days easy.  I made up for it though, today by doing Kenpo and Legs and Back from P90x.

I’ll be taking my pictures and measurements tomorrow, for my 1 month anniversary.  I am proud of the fact that I have kept up with the eating and exercise program at least 90% of the time.  I’m not expecting a huge change just yet and know that I have another 8 weeks of working out ahead of me.  Making it this far is just part of the journey and I’m just so happy to be along for the ride.

During the next four weeks, I’ll be focusing on eating cleaner, more consistently and smaller meals.  The next four weeks will be dedicated to my relationship with food.  The exercise part is still important, but I feel like I need to really hone in on my eating issues.  The food journal has been reinstated and I will be logging my calories daily.

Happy 4th of July!

July 5th, 2008

Its been an awesome weekend thus far- I just wish it wasn’t TOM here…cause I’m feeling super bloated, lethargic and just plain blah.

At least its sunny again, right?

Tomorrow is Kiki’s birthday party at the bowling alley.  I need to make sure that my camera is charged for this.

I’ll be back tomorrow evening to post some pics of Kiki’s special day.  Can you believe that my little princess is 7 already?

Neither can I….

Where in the world have I been?

June 28th, 2008

I’m almost embarrassed to say that I haven’t been around much.  A lot going on in the life of Westy.  A lot!  Summer is upon us and the kids are in their various activities.  I’m struggling to juggle work and home life still and have been told by many just how unorganized I have become.  Being a perfectionist by nature, this news has pissed me off royally and its become high time that I do something about it.

I bought a planner.  Yipee!  I’m also going to buy a phone.  The challenge is which phone am I going to buy?  The iphone is out on 7/15.  Can I wait that long???

Lots of birthdays are abound in the month of July.  Kiki’s is the first one.  What do I do for my baby girl who will be turning 7?  Pizza Hut and Fun Factory of course!  I just hope that her friends can make it.

As for the rest of the day today, its just clean, clean and more clean.  Of course I plan to break it up by having some fun in between and maybe even a little exercise.  But all in all, our house needs it badly- and when you have a family full of kids, things tend to get piled up pretty quickly.

Have a wonderful weekend and if I’m not back on tomorrow, I’ll be back on Monday.

Body for Life Challenge #1

June 13, 2008

I’m super excited to be doing BFL and even more excited to have D doing it with me.  We both really needed to get motivated and get active again and I truly believe that BFL will help us achieve our goals.

Stepping on the scale at Costco last week was our “wake up call”- Derek could hardly believe that he weighed in at 194 lbs and I have not weighed 115 lbs since my last pregnancy (over 4 years ago).  It’s time for the two of us to focus on ourselves for a bit and make our health a priority!

My progress:

I am very proud of the fact that I was able to complete 100% of my workouts.  I did them and it felt good!  My eating however needs a lot more attention and I plan to focus more on my diet next week instead of just the workouts.  Eating for me is the most challenging at work- the girls at work like to eat and it has been hard for me to keep to the program when I am in the office.  I realize however, that things will need to change and I will need to stick to the diet if I’m going to see any results.

I have read BFL champions and will be rereading it again over the weekend in order to help me map out the rest of the 11 weeks.

I will be documenting my progress with weekly photos and measurements but I will try not step on to a scale again until the end of the challenge.  From this day forward, I will be completing a daily synopsis of my Body For Life journey.

June 14, 2008

Derek and I had a great workout today.  I definitely felt the heat on and it was nice to be able to have him there as motivation.  I’m truly married to the most wonderful man in the world!

I was not able to eat my 6 mini meals today.  This is something that I know I need to work on.  I did drink a myoplex shake however and will reread the BFL Champions book tonight before going to bed (so that I can get some ideas about meal and supplement timing).

I’m going to take my week one progress photos in the morning.  Tomorrow is Father’s Day and we’re going fishing so I’ll have to wake up super early to take the photos before we head out.  Since my “before” pictures were taken while I was wearing my workout clothes, I will (from now on) take the rest of my photos in my bikini.  I realize that this is how I will truly be able to gage just how much of a difference my body will be going through over the next couple of weeks.

I feel stronger already.  This is good.  Tomorrow is another day and I’m definitely up for the challenge!

June 18, 2008

Its midweek already and today is my legs workout.  I did some cardio yesterday but wasn’t very successful in my eating.  It is hard for me to eat when I’m supposed to- especially at work.  I will need to get better at this (for sure).

I plan on working out when I get home from work and will have leftovers for dinner- a brown rice shrimp stir fry- sounds like a pretty good meal.

I also have to take my shorts picture for the mini challenge at Tracker.  That should be fun and I cannot wait to see the results.

Derek is doing fabulous and I admire his dedication and determination.  My hubby and I are already seeing changes in our moods since starting the challenge and I cannot wait to see how wonderful we’ll both feel by the time the next 12 weeks are up!

June 26, 2008

Man alive- it’s been a hard week for me and BFL.  I had to go off- island for a business class and wasn’t able to eat as often as I needed to.  I also didn’t get enough exercise like I should have.  I’m paying the price today and will make it my mission to make up as much as I can to save this week.  My dad is taking the laptop to Vegas so I won’t be able to journal as much as I want to (well, I’ll just have to save this on my flash drive).

June 28, 2008

Well, my dad didn’t end up taking my laptop at all, so I’ll be able to continue my journal as expected.  I worked legs last night and felt really, really good.  I do believe that I need to go up in some weights however for my legs- they have always been my stronger body part and the easiest for me to tone.  I did a little ab work as well but not as much as I would like.  My abs are definitely the weakest part of my body and the one that needs the most attention.

I was surprised to see that my weight has gone down a bit despite my eating mishaps during the week.  I really thought that my Maui trip was going to put me back up there in the scale, but it didn’t!  I’m down to 110.6 which is FANTASTIC!  I’ve taken my week three photos already (a day early, I know but I doubt it’ll make a difference) and my measurements as well.  I’m pretty happy with my progress thus far.

We’ll be starting P90x on Monday.  Its going to be our week 4 of the challenge and Derek has seen awesome results thus far.  For him, its time to take it to the next level- and I’m more than happy to go along for the ride.  I need to go to my brother’s house to pick up the videos from him but once we get them, we’re going to sit down and write up our weekly goals.  I’m ready for this!!!

humpday check in

June 18th, 2008

Is it Wednesday already?  Wow- time flies when you’re having fun

I haven’t been taking pictures of my food but have been logging them down when I can.  Today is abs and lowerbody…I can’t wait to get started.

I will start P90x next week.  I need to be extreme in order to see extreme results.  I have to call AJ again to see if I can borrow the set to reburn.  I’m missing a few since I gave them to Kanani and I just want to be able to say that I have all of the dvds to work out with.

Happy Father’s Day!

June 16th, 2008

What a great day today was!  I woke up super early so that I could go to Starbucks and get a coffee for me and my dad.  I got him a caramel machiatto so that he could enjoy it while I drank my usual (skinny vanilla latte).  It was nice seeing him this morning and as a bonus, I got to see my baby bro too!

We went to the Nawiliwili Yacht Club today for the Father’s Day fishing tournament!  It was so much fun!  We didn’t get that many fish but the kids enjoyed themselves (and of course, that’s all that matters).

It was a nice day and my husband is the most wonderful man in the world.  My children are very lucky to have him as a father and I’m so blessed to have a man like Derek as my husband.

Happy Father’s Day D!  I love you so much!
